Emergencies

Important emergency numbers are 112 for 24-hour access to Carabinieri (military police); 113 for Police; 115 for Fire; 116 for the Italian Automobile Club; 118 for medical emergency and ambulance (this number is not yet operational in all areas; alternatively call 113).
In Rome, you can also dial local numbers for the police (tel. 06/4686) and an ambulance (tel. 06/5510).

DOCTORS AND DENTISTS
Call your consulate or the private Salvator Mundi Hospital (tel. 06/588961) or Rome American Hospital (tel. 06/22551), which have English-speaking staff, for recommendations.

LATE-NIGHT PHARMACIES
You will find American and British products--or their equivalents--and English-speaking staff at Farmacia Internazionale Capranica (Piazza Capranica 96, tel. 06/679-4680), Farmacia Internazionale Barberini (Piazza Barberini 49, tel. 06/482-5456), and Farmacia Cola di Rienzo (Via Cola di Rienzo 213, tel. 06/324-3130), among others.
Most are open 8:30-1, 4-8; some are open all night.
Pharmacies take turns opening on Sunday.
