Master in hotel management

THE OBJECTIVE: the final objective of the Master is to provide the necessary practical techniques needed for the management of the hotel enterprises, taking into account the modern tendency of the management and the high quality of the services , typical of the Italian tradition..

IT IS INTENDED FOR: graduates who want to receive specific training in hotel management and people with high school diplomas who occupy places of responsibility in hotel enterprises .

HOW TO PARTICIPATE: a limited number of students are accepted. The School Director selects the candidates on the basis of their qualifications.

THE METHOD: the lessons are integrated with working groups, guided readings, debates, seminars and discussions of case histories. The participants can also benefit from didactic aids such as the text-books and technical notes provided by the professors.

PERIOD: during the 1997/98 academic year, two editions of the Master wild be held. The first one will start on November 2, 1997 and will end on May 30, 1998. The second will start on May 2, 1998 and will end on November 30, of the same year.

THE SYLLABUS: The Course will be given in Italian. The Master is an intensive Course with lessons every day.

I. INTENSIVE COURSE OF ITALIAN LANGUAGE
FOR FOREIGN PARTICIPANTS
(1 month)

II. BASIC THEORETICAL COURSE
1.
- Economics of Hotel Enterprises
    - Psychology of the Hotel Organization
    - Hotel Accountancy and Balance Sheets

2. - Hotel Organization and Management Techniques
    - Hotel Design and Maintenance
    - Human Resources

3.
- Investment and Hotel Feasibility
    - Tourism and Hotel Enterprises Law Hotel marketing

III. APPLIED COURSE
- Food and Beverages Management Techniques
- Congress Techniques
- Economics and Techniques of Travel Agencies

IV. SEMINARS
Seminars and case studies with interdisciplinary
methods, with the participation of domestic
and foreign experts.

Exams and final certificate: The final certificate of Attendance and Proficiency will be given to the participants who have:
- attended regularly ( at least 50% of the lessons for each single subject );
- passed the exams required by the syllabus;
- presented a written thesis accepted at the final colloquium.

N.B. The participants are given due notice that the Director of the School reserves the right to modify the above program.

Stages: 3/6 months work stages in hotels both in Italy and abroad will be organized after the Master only for European citizens within the limits of the law regulations. The participation at these stages is at the total judgement of the School Director.
